Are you looking for an opportunity to grow professionally while doing diverse legal work with a high-growth, market-leading public enterprise software company, based in Silicon Valley?  Then we have the opportunity for you – Guidewire Software is looking to hire a 6-8-year PQE lawyer in our rapidly growing European business, in order to assist in a broad range of legal activities, including customer, partner and vendor contracts, corporate governance, data related issues, IP and a wide variety of other legal matters as they arise.


In addition to working with a collaborative, fun group of legal colleagues, you will also be engaged with our business teams, including sales, services, operations, finance and development.   We are looking for a self-starter who enjoys collaborating with your business partners worldwide, has a practical approach to an evolving legal environment and is willing to try and learn new things.  That said, you will not be on your own – our team of experienced legal professionals is looking forward to welcoming a new colleague into the fold. The role will report into our VP EMEA Operations and General Counsel and can be based either in London, Dublin, Paris or Munich depending upon the candidate.

 Your Responsibilities:


As noted above, this role will include a variety of projects and responsibilities, which will be dictated by varying Company needs. Working in conjunction with other legal colleagues, on any given day you may:

  • Advise company sales and procurement colleagues on contracting, including drafting negotiating customer, supplier and partner agreements.
  • Partner with the finance and tax teams on corporate structure and governance.
  • Assist with creating, updating, and implementing a wide range of legal policies as we grow our business across Europe.
  • Partner with Privacy and InfoSec teams on a wide range of data related issues associated with a growing SAAS based business.
  • Assist with creating, and rolling out, training programs for the business in relation to key legal topics.
  • Partner with the finance and accounting teams on company reporting matters.
  • Partner with the human resources team on employment law and employee issues
  • Partner with outside counsel responding to customer satisfaction issues, or threatened or actual litigation




  • Qualified lawyer in either UK, France, Germany, or Ireland.
  • Strong language skills in either French or German to enable contract negotiations and business discussions in such language.
  • Experience in advising and negotiating contracts in either French or German.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a high tech (preferably enterprise software) corporate legal department, or law firm providing service to the same.
  • An ability to thrive in an environment where you need to acquire buy-in, mobilize and lead processes collaboratively
  • Ambition and motivation to take on additional roles and responsibilities, growing with the Company and its legal function
